AUSTRALIAN HISTORY IS FAKE NEWS

MY CAREER, FOR six years, has been focused on truth: uncovering it, exposing it, wrapping it in a bow and delivering it to audiences; sometimes regardless whether or not they want it or are even ready for it. The truths I expose are not new, they have been exposed by others; what I do is find new ways to display them, new angles to hold the light so the darker edges and the holes where lies can hide are better lit.

At times, when the truths I deliver are less welcome I must sharpen them and use them as weapons.

Many of those who read me don’t want to know the truth about Australia’s history. Australia is built on lies, the foundation of the history we are taught is false, the first news the colony was presented with, that an empty continent was ripe for the taking, was fake news.

There are so many falsehoods in Australia’s history that it’s hard to know where to start.

Let’s start with some amusing, slightly silly but unambiguously fake news:
